Administration to verify arms licences

HAJIPUR: In a belated but bold move, the verification of issued arms licences has been started by the sub divisional magistrate of Hajipur, following the instruction of district magistrate H R Srinivas on Friday.
According to the DM, the verification of arms licences issued to different persons from 1996 onwards, would be done. "Notices have already been served to all the arms licence holders to bring their licence and other documents for verification," said the DM.
This order has created fear in arms licence holders as a majority of them had obtained licence without fulfilling the essential requisites.
In Vaishali, there are more than 5000 arms licence holders and during the tenure of three district magistrates in the past, highest number of licences were issued.
In Vaishali, there are many who have succeeded in obtaining more arms licences than the allowed number of two in the names of different family members.
